Senator Brophy McGee and Arizona Humane Society to hold Cuddle Bunch Adoption Day at the Senate
Senator Kate Brophy McGee and the Arizona Humane Society (AHS) have come together for the first-ever Cuddle Bunch Adoption Day at the Arizona State Senate. AHS will be bringing a few of their adoptable, furry friends to the Senate lobby and volunteers will be on hand to answer any questions involving the adoption process. Last year, Senator Kate Brophy McGee sponsored SB 1101, which the Governor signed as HB 2523; spay and neuter; tax checkoff. With the passing of this legislation, a person may now donate a portion of their tax refund to the Companion Animal Spay and Neuter Committee. The Committee is responsible for donating the money to programs and non-profits that reduce pet overpopulation by sterilizing dogs and cats.
The Humane Society plays a critical role in the Valley by caring for sick, injured and abused homeless animals through their animal rescue and cruelty investigations, as well as its trauma hospital. AHS also focuses on keeping pets in homes through its Pet Resource Center and was able to provide resources to 17,000 pet owners last year alone.
“In our commitment to end animal suffering, homelessness and needless euthanasia, the Arizona Humane Society has saved an additional 60,000 pets over the past four years,” said AHS Spokesperson, Bretta Nelson. “Our Cuddle Bunch events are a perfect way to celebrate those survivors, as well as the joy that pets bring to our lives, while also finding them their forever homes.”
"I am excited to be partnering with the Arizona Humane Society and joining their mission of advocating for and educating about adopting rescue animals," said Senator Brophy McGee. "The passionate folks who volunteer and work for all our Arizona animal shelters and advocacy groups do so out of pure love, and I hope that all our furry friends who are here for the Cuddle Bunch are adopted by equally loving homes."
The Arizona Humane Society Cuddle Bunch Adoption Day is from 11:30 AM to 1:30 PM, Wednesday, February 14 in the Arizona State Senate lobby.
