Legislative District 11 home to two of Arizona's safest cities
A major study of the safety of communities across the United States has found that two of the safest cities in Arizona are within Legislative District 11. Backgroundchecks.org gathered the numbers and found that Oro Valley is the second safest community in Arizona, and Marana is the fourth safest.
The study looked at FBI crime statistics for communities larger than 10,000 residents, including both violent crime rates and property crime rates. It also factored in the number of members of law enforcement.
The city of Maricopa, also in LD 11, placed 13th on the list of 40 Arizona communities.
"It's good news to see several communities in our district near the top of the safety rankings," said Senator Vince Leach. "I know how hard our law enforcement works to keep our communities safe, and this new study is evidence that it's working."
Paradise Valley came out on the top of the list, and Tucson came in last place.
