Arizona Senate Majority Caucus Issues Statement on the Passing of Former House Representative and Senator Herb Guenther
(Phoenix- State Capitol)--- We are heartbroken to learn of the passing of former colleague and friend Herb Guenther. He served as a Democratic member within both the Arizona House of Representatives and the Arizona State Senate for more than a decade. He also spent eight years as the Director of the Arizona Department of Water Resources and five years as a Commissioner for the Arizona Game and Fish Department.
Guenther was an amazing leader and an incredible bipartisan statesman. He could work across the aisle with anyone. His knowledge of water issues within Arizona was unmatched. He represented southwestern and rural Arizona with passion. He was always a problem-solver and worked with a heart of gold. He only wanted what was best for Arizona and displayed this truth with every move he made. His sense of humor will also be sorely missed.
"I have known Herb for almost 30 years. I worked with him when I was the Vice Mayor of Prescott and the Mayor of Chino Valley," said Senate President Karen Fann (R-1). "He was also a big presence during my entire legislative career. He was always my mentor on water issues, and I considered him a dear friend. He was the salt of the earth and will be deeply missed. My thoughts and prayers are with his family during this difficult time."
Rest in peace, sir. Thank you for your service to our great state. You made Arizona a better place.
