Mohave County is Open for Business!

STATE CAPITOL, PHOENIX – Representatives Regina Cobb and Leo Biasiucci, and Senator Sonny Borrelli are celebrating today’s news from the Arizona Department of Health Services (AZDHS) that Mohave County is among the counties that has met the benchmarks to reopen businesses that were once ordered to close their doors to help slow the spread of the coronavirus.

Mohave County’s status was moved downward to “moderate,” meaning there were two consecutive weeks of 10 to 100 cases per every 100,000 people, a percent positivity between 5% and 10% and hospital visits for COVID-like illnesses in the region between 5% and 10%.

“Mohave County is open for business,” said Representative Cobb. “We have anxiously awaited those words. Our communities have suffered great economic stress and businesses endured unimaginable hardship during this period. However, today’s news is particularly good, and I am confident in the future and that our recovery will be swift.”

“Small businesses are the backbone of our economy,” said Representative Biasiucci. “Forcing them to shutdown was something I never wanted to see happen. I am thrilled to see them to open up again.”

“I want to thank the citizens of our county for their incredible efforts, making it possible for us to safely reopen,” said Senator Borrelli. “It truly takes all of us working together to succeed on our road to recovery.”

Now that Mohave has met the “moderate” benchmark, county businesses only need to apply to reopen by filling out an attestation on the AZDHS website and prove that they are following COVID-19 guidelines to keep the public safe. Businesses can find complete COVID-19 guidance here.
