Statement from Senate Ethics Chair Sine Kerr
"Yesterday I received a formal ethics complaint filed by Senator Kelly Townsend against Senator Tony Navarrete. The complaint concerns accusations of child sex crimes, culminating in Navarrete's arrest Thursday evening. However, given Senator Navarrete’s resignation we received today, this ethics complaint was dismissed as moot, as Senate Ethics Committee only has jurisdiction over sitting Senators.
My prayers and my heart go out to the victims. I pray for their safety, and their healing from the trauma they experienced. I stand with all survivors of sexual assault and encourage anyone who needs it to call the Arizona Sexual and Domestic Violence Helpline at 602-279-2980.”
