Statement from Senator Vince Leach on Arizona Supreme Court ruling on health care initiative
"I am pleased the Arizona Supreme Court has upheld the lower court ruling last week that the so-called Surprise Billing initiative should not be on the November ballot. The initiative fell short of signatures and the court had ruled the initiative summary was misleading and could cause confusion. Beyond that, it was a hodge-podge of health care issues that were thrown together by out-of-state interests and would have done great harm to our outstanding Arizona health care system.
I have no doubt if the initiative had stayed on the ballot and voters had approved it, it would have greatly increased health care costs to Arizonans and would have led to job losses and even hospital closures. Thankfully, with the initiative's demise, that won't happen."
