Hobbs Advocates for Continuation of Problem-Riddled Agency,

 Senator Hoffman Proposes Repeal

PHOENIX, ARIZONA— As the Legislature works to right-size our state budget, shifting more dollars away from government programs and back to Arizonans’ pocketbooks, Senator Hoffman has introduced a repeal of the Arizona Commerce Authority, SB1044, to immediately halt the reckless spending of this unaccountable agency.

Based on the most recent audit by the Arizona Auditor General, Senator Hoffman learned of troubling, potentially illegal handouts under the Hobbs Administration, including millions last year for entertainment on items like alcohol, corporate swag, a WM Phoenix Open Suite, and a Super Bowl Sponsorship -- the same Super Bowl attended by members of Hobbs’ staff for free.

"In today's State of the State Address, Hobbs continued to show how out of touch Democrats are with the people of Arizona," said Senator Hoffman. "The Arizona Commerce Authority under Katie's watch has ballooned into the epicenter for waste, mismanagement, and luxury spending at a time when Arizonans are struggling in Democrats' failing economy. It's time for our government to stand up for the hardworking people of our state by repealing this unaccountable agency. It's time to build a responsible government that works for all Arizonans.
